The Three Stars Inc. Green Team Thinks Adopting a Highway is the Next Step

 

Adopting a highway is another idea we bandied about. Essentially the plan would be to spend a few weekends a month picking up garbage from our section of a road. We´ll pick up litter, pull weeds from the flower beds, plant flowers where they´re needed. We want our piece of highway to be as pretty and free of litter as it can be.

Why? Well for one, a lot of litter is non-biodegradable which means that it won´t be broken down by decay and it will just sit on the Earth´s surface forever. Also, a lot of litter gets thrown into the ocean or other bodies of water and can kill various marine life.

Another reason we chose to pick up litter is because, at the very least, it´s ugly. And how can you promote saving the Earth when there is litter lining every road and highway? If everywhere you look is a beautiful garden of flowers or a lush green landscape filled with trees and wildlife, then the task of keeping it like that becomes that much more obvious.
